National Board Inspector Certification Examination Preparation Course

Course Overview

The National Board (NB) Inspector Certification Examination Preparation Course is an intense two-week (10 instructional days) course designed to prepare the participant to sit for the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector's Certification Examination.

This course will include detailed instruction in:

  • Materials
  • Calculations typically found on the exam based on problems pertaining to:
    • ASME Section I, Power Boilers
    • ASME B31.1, Power Piping
    • ASME Section IV, Heating Boilers
    • ASME Section VIII, Div. 1, Pressure Vessels
    • Repairs and Alterations to in-service equipment
    • Inspection frequency and remaining life of pressure vessels
  • Repair and Alteration Requirements
  • Welding and Nondestructive Testing Requirements
  • In-service inspection requirements
  • Daily Quizzes
  • Practice Examinations

Attendees are required to bring the latest edition of the following Code books.

  • ASME Section I, Power Boilers
  • ASME B31.1, Power Piping
  • ASME Section IV, Heating Boilers
  • ASME Section VIII, Division 1, Pressure Vessels
  • ASME Section IX, Welding, Brazing, and Fusion Qualifications (Welding only)
  • National Board Inspection Code Parts 1, 2, and 3

Course registration and payment must be received, by us, at least four weeks prior to the start of the course. Pre-course study material is provided approximately four weeks prior to the start of the course. Registrations, after this time period, will be considered based on seating availability.
