Case Study: Supplier Verification

A major engineering company has a continuing need to perform Positive Material Identification (PMI) of materials received in their facility prior to those materials being shipped to their vendor for fabrication.

The company uses BAY Technical Associates on a regular basis for testing consistency and proficiency. In one of these tests, prior to the machining process, a casting was found to be made from an incorrect grade of stainless steel material. Our client was able to order another casting, have it tested and shipped to their fabrication vendor in a timely manner. As a result of the PMI testing prior to fabrication, our client has lowered their overall costs, improved their quality and decreased fabrication time for their customers.
