Case Study: An Oil Company

A major oil company needed consultation and guidance for compliance with ASME, National Board, and API Codes and Standards pertaining to repairs, alterations, and re-rating of boilers, pressure vessels, and piping installed in the refinery.

Solution:

The company hired BAY Technical Associates to provide consultation for compliance with these codes and standards, and also for compliance with state laws for repairs, alterations, and installations of this equipment. This consultation guidance allowed the oil company to benefit from significant time and monetary savings on various projects.

Case Study: An International Chemical Company

An international chemical company needed help in developing and qualifying several welding procedures for process piping.

Solution:

Because of our expertise in understanding the Welding Qualification Code of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, BAY Technical was hired to assist in developing and qualifying the procedures. We also assisted in qualifying individual welders to perform these procedures. Now that the company has their own qualified welding procedures and welders, they no longer need to call in an outside repair organization. This has greatly reduced their downtime and costs, and better prepared them for emergency situations.

Case Study: A Copper Mining and Smelting Company

This company needing consultation services for writing and implementing a Quality Assurance/Quality Control program to obtain an authorization to be an accredited Owner/User Inspection organization.

Solution:

BAY Technical Associates was hired to assist with the writing and implementation. We also helped the company obtain accreditation with the National Board Accreditation for Repairs and Alterations to Pressure Retaining Items. These two programs have resulted in significant time and monetary savings. The company no longer needs to wait for, nor contract with, a repair organization to make emergency repairs, or wait for an Authorized Inspector to become available to sign off on the repairs.

Expert Witness Case Study: A Manufacturer of a HRSG

Upon receipt inspection of a large Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG), the customer noticed fabrication flaws. The manufacturer of the generator insisted the fabrication was in full compliance with the ASME code of construction.

Expert Witness Testimony:

BAY Technical Associates was retained by the customer's legal representatives to determine if, in fact, the fabrication complied with the ASME code. Our background as an Authorized Inspectors and knowledge of the ASME Code in question was used in testimony. It was determined the fabrication did not fully comply with the applicable code of construction.
